1st movement: Allegro con spirito | 2nd: Andante un poco Adagio | 3rd: Rondo allegretto grazioso
Not much to say – this and Piano Sonata No. 11 have been recent addictions of mine. Barenboim’s dynamics are clearer in this recording than in No. 11, and that matters quite a bit in the second movement especially, as well as for the end of the piece. The first movement is grand and vigorous, establishing an energy that carries throughout the whole.
- Martha Argerich, Beethoven Piano Sonata Op. 101
- Alfred Brendel, Schubert Piano Sonata in B-flat major D. 960
- Mozart, String Quintet K. 516, performed by the Amadeus Quartet
- Mendelssohn, Piano Sextet in D major Op. 110
- Martha Argerich, Ravel Piano Concerto in G, 2nd Movement

When I used to play piano…many years ago, I loved playing several of Mozart’s sonatas because they are so full of energy. I could not do them justice as I was never able to play them fast enough.
