I learn something whenever I read one of your posts. My takeaway may not be as deep as some of the scholarly among your readers, but here it is: "Miracles are tied to the imagination, which is a faculty lower than reason, but critical to both prophecy and politics..." This seems to imply that neither prophets nor politicians appeal to their audiences with reason.
